Vote to Bring the Troops Home Now

Parliament will debate and vote on Britain's continued involvement in Afghanistan this September 9th.

The government is incredibly vulnerable over the war. There are huge divisions in Parliament, an increasingly active opposition to the war from 77% of the British public and damning media reports nearly every day, epitomised by the recent Wikileaks revelations.

David Cameron says he wants to see British forces home by 2015. On taking office, Defence Secretary Liam Fox called for a speeded up withdrawal of troops. Now he’s arguing that the British might be the last to leave, and that early withdrawal would be ‘a betrayal of the sacrifices by British forces’, ignoring that hundreds of British troops and thousands of Afghan civilians are dying in an increasingly violent, immoral and unwinnable war.

We need to let our MPs know the strength of feeling there is against continuing the war in Afghanistan. MPs should know their consituents expect them to be present at the debate and vote to bring the troops home now.

Lobbying your MP has the potential to effect decisively what happens in Afghanistan. Please write to your local MP using the model letter or delete it and provide your own. Personalised messages are more effective.
